Name Game

Barb at A Chelsea Morning want's to know how we came up with the name for our blog.

Originally mine was entitled "Simply Put." Then I changed it to Unfinished Work, mainly because at the time I was feeling pretty discouraged about my habits of starting things with a bang but fizzling out soon after. So in essence, my title was kind of my cover for not blogging consistently. I mean, what do you expect from a blog entitled Unfinished Work!

I did add Philippians 1:6 as an afterthought. It's a verse I've always loved: Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (NIV). Since then, it's become a reminder to me to focus on the work God is doing in my life. Knowing that God isn't finished with me yet, but that he continues to work out his will in my life, reminds me to press on patiently with my projects, and especially to enjoy the process as well as the finished product!

So how did you come up with the name for your blog? Share it with us by leaving a link at Barb's today!

Great name! I'm so thankful that God sees me as a work in progress...especially when I mess up! Thanks for sharing! :)

Nice blog! Great layout and colors. I also like the title very much. I can relate on both counts. Love the verse, too. Wonderful reminder that He is at work in us even when we can't always see it.

I love that verse too! I tend to have the same issue with work being finished. I see mine as a lack of motivation. There are always new things I want to do that are more interesting. Thanks for sharing.

I am sooo glad you played along. The name of your blog really had me curious. I love the way you tied it together - the fact that you struggle to finish things you start and the fact that God's not finished with us, His project, until the day we die. I really really like that and I'll think of it every time I see your title from this minute on.

Dianne, I've been a big fan of your blog for quite some time. I'm not even sure how I originally found it, but I'm glad I did! God bless...

I'm with you on the unfinished works and projects around here. I like the way that your title reminds me that I'm not going to be perfect, but I'm not gonna stay the way I am, either!

GReat title. I too hae a lot of unfinished work lying round. It does get frustrating. I finally realized that I have a church planter mentality. Like to get things started and leave them to others to finish. Very comforting to realize that it is how God designed me.
