WFMW: Cooking Instructions

I'm a big fan of using canisters in my kitchen, partly for decoration and partly because it's more practical than keeping a lot of open boxes in my pantry. But I was forever forgetting simple things, like the Bisquick biscuit recipe or how to cook rice. I finally started cutting out the directions and either taping them to the lid or tossing them in the bottom of the canister (I often put the contents into a ziploc bag before putting them in the canister). It works for me.

For lots more clever ideas, check out Shannon's post today at Rock's in My Dryer.

I've done exactly the same thing. And you're right. It works.

Great idea. This would've also helped me keep from putting flour in my bisquick container. Try explaining flour flavored pancakes to a famished family!

I LOVE the idea of putting them inside the lid!

We prefer cannisters too...they keep everything so fresh!

Thanks for posting your idea, I'm
going to do this in my kitchen!

I've started using my canisters or jars for rice, but I know how to cook that. I need to use this advice and put other things that are taking up space in my cabinets in some canisters. . . . Hmmmm.

I do the same thing! I have several clear Tupperware (spaghetti one) or Snapware type canisters that I use in my pantry. I keep certain things in each one and always cut out the instructions from the box and tape on the side or top of the lid.

Great tip!!!

Great tip! I do that with my rice... because I used to always forget how to cook it :D I would cut the recipe out of the bag and put it on top of the rice in the cannister :D

Good idea. I tend to tape random recipes / info to the insides of my cabinets, but your idea makes more sense!
